Jane
Weed-Pomerantz CPDA, Santa Cruz CA
Jane was trained in Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline
Way by Jane Nelsen in 1996. After getting her first
experiences teaching parenting classes through her children’s
elementary school and being invited to teach Positive
Discipline at the county jail for women, she went on to be
trained in Positive Discipline in the Classroom and earned her
Certification as a Positive Discipline Associate in January
2002. She currently serves as co-chair of the Positive
Discipline Association and is one of the PDA’s Lead Trainers.
Twice a year, she teaches 8-week classes through the Santa
Cruz City School District Adult School in Positive Discipline
for All Ages and Parenting Teenagers. She continues to
facilitate classes for Parenting in Recovery in the
minimum-security facilities, substance abuse treatment
centers, and in the general community in Santa Cruz County.
Jane is a popular speaker for area pre-schools, middle school
Parent Clubs and churches. She has conducted in-service
trainings for teachers in a wide variety of schools and is
working with several schools districts for whole school
training and implementation of Positive Discipline in the
Classroom.
She facilitates 2-day trainings in Teaching Parenting the
Positive Discipline Way and Positive Discipline in the
Classroom in the Santa Cruz/San Francisco Bay area and will go
nearly anywhere to further this work! Besides being a CPDA,
she is the Chair of the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz
County and is on the Advisory Boards of the Parent Leadership
Institute, and the Santa Cruz Education Foundation.
She is married to a San Jose Fire Captain and mother of 4
children ranging in ages from 14 to 24. She has a Bachelors
Degree in Community Studies at University of California at
Santa Cruz, a Certificate in Training and Human Resource
Development, was a City Councilmember and Mayor of Santa Cruz
in the 1980’s, and has been a professional facilitator for
over 25 years.
