Barbara Kinney

Biographical Highlights

 

Barbara R. Kinney holds an M.A. from Middlebury College’s Graduate Program in Paris, France, and has taught both internationally and in the U.S. at the middle and high school levels for more than 18 years. She has been a family and school life educator since 1984, having trained with Jane Nelsen and Lynn Lott to become a Positive Discipline Associate certified to lead workshop and seminars in Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way and Positive Discipline in the Classroom.

As a member of the curriculum committee for the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut, Department of Health Education, Barbara helped develop and implement "Prevention Begins at Home," a drug-education program for middle and high school parents. From 1991-96, she was the Family Life Curriculum teacher at Whitby School, the American Montessori Center, also in Greenwich, where she taught adolescent issues, problem-solving skills, and puberty and drug-awareness education to fourth through eighth graders.

The mother of two college-age sons, Barbara brings many years of experience as a parent, facilitator, and teacher trainer to her programs on child and adolescent development and empowerment.
